Annual ITT Conference a huge success

The annual Yorkshire and the Humber Maths Hub ITT conference took place on Friday 29th January.

The key focus of the programme was designed to give delegates a deeper insight into the ‘5 Big Ideas of Teaching for Mastery’, as well as providing a taster in how to plan for understanding and use manipulatives in both Primary and Secondary settings. This was all knitted together with a theme of building awareness across phases.

The online conference was a huge success, with over 90 delegates and 10 ITT providers in attendance. Here’s what some of the delegates had to say about the day:

“Interestingly, it was very useful to be able to talk and discuss with Primary teachers about the continuity of mathematics education. I know this was the first time you've done this, putting both Primary and Secondary together, but I think this was really useful and could even be used to form a larger part of the event”

“You pointed out a range of useful resources, alongside deepening my understanding of teaching for mastery”

“All of it was really useful - however I specifically liked looking at how the use of manipulatives can really help to strengthen pupils understanding of maths and concepts taught”
