New resources for 2021/22

The NCETM has produced some new resources for both primary and secondary colleagues.

For primary colleagues, there is a term-by-term framework to support planning and teaching in 2021/22. The resource provides coherent sequencing for the primary maths curriculum. It draws together the DfE guidance on curriculum prioritisation, with the high-quality professional development and classroom resources provided by the NCETM Primary Mastery PD materials.

For secondary colleagues, there is a year's worth of Year 7 resources to help teachers assess understanding and help Year 7's get off to a secure start in maths after the disruption to their primary school experience through the pandemic.

Primary

For primary teachers, there is a substantial curriculum prioritisation resource for 2021/22. For each of Years 1-6, there is a mapping of the year's curriculum into around a dozen units. Each unit has a downloadable PowerPoint, with sequenced classroom slides, carrying comprehensive links to pages in the DfE Primary Mathematics Guidance, and to associated pedagogy and professional development in our NCETM Primary Mastery PD materials.

Secondary

If you are teaching Year 7 maths this year, you may well be interested in the new Checkpoints activities. These provide a year's worth of Year 7 maths diagnostic tasks to help assess understanding and lay foundations for the rest of KS3. The first activities are available for download, and to get the most out of the activities, you can also sign up for the associated professional development seminars.
